Waste Management Crew - Senior Open

Location: Carnoustie, Scotland

Job Description:

We are seeking experienced and dedicated Waste Management Crew members to join our team for the Senior Open. As a member of the waste management team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that all waste streams are effectively sorted to comply with sustainability policies on-site. Additionally, you will be responsible for managing timely waste exchanges, maintaining tidy waste systems, and overseeing various locations across the event site. This role will also involve driving buggies on-site to facilitate waste collection and transportation.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Waste Sorting: Sort different waste streams (e.g., recyclables, compostables, general waste) to ensure compliance with sustainability policies and regulations.
  2. Timely Waste Exchanges: Manage the exchange of waste bins and containers, ensuring they are emptied and replaced in a timely manner to prevent overflow and maintain cleanliness.
  3. Site Maintenance: Keep waste collection systems and locations across the event site tidy and organized, including emptying bins, cleaning spills, and ensuring proper signage is in place.
  4. Location Management: Monitor and maintain waste systems in various locations across the event site, including spectator areas, hospitality zones, and back-of-house facilities.
  5. Buggy Operation: Drive buggies on-site to facilitate waste collection and transportation, ensuring safe and efficient movement of waste materials.
  6. Compliance and Reporting: Adhere to waste management protocols, sustainability policies, and health and safety regulations. Report any issues or incidents to the Waste Management Supervisor or designated authority.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in waste management or a related field is required.
  • Familiarity with waste sorting practices and sustainability principles.
  • Ability to work efficiently and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience operating vehicles, such as buggies or utility carts, is preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Physical stamina and the ability to lift and move heavy objects.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record (if required to operate vehicles).
  • Flexibility to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as dictated by event schedules.
