Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Waste Management Supervisor to lead our team for the Senior Open at Carnoustie, Scotland. As the Waste Management Supervisor, you will oversee the waste management crew and ensure that all waste streams are sorted effectively to comply with sustainability policies on-site. Additionally, you will be responsible for managing timely waste exchanges, maintaining tidy waste systems, overseeing various locations across the event site, and coordinating the operation of buggies for waste collection.
Key Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership: Lead and supervise the waste management crew, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure efficient and effective performance.
- Waste Sorting: Ensure that all waste streams (e.g., recyclables, compostables, general waste) are sorted correctly according to sustainability policies and regulations.
- Timely Waste Exchanges: Manage the exchange of waste bins and containers, ensuring they are emptied and replaced promptly to prevent overflow and maintain cleanliness.
- Site Maintenance: Oversee the maintenance of waste collection systems and locations across the event site, including emptying bins, cleaning spills, and ensuring proper signage.
- Location Management: Coordinate and oversee waste management activities in various locations across the event site, including spectator areas, hospitality zones, and back-of-house facilities.
- Buggy Operation: Coordinate the operation of buggies for waste collection and transportation, ensuring safe and efficient movement of waste materials.
- Compliance and Reporting: Ensure compliance with waste management protocols, sustainability policies, and health and safety regulations. Report any issues or incidents to the designated authority.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in waste management or a related field, with demonstrated supervisory experience, is required.
- Strong knowledge of waste sorting practices and sustainability principles.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to effectively manage and coordinate team activities in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience operating vehicles, such as buggies or utility carts, is preferred.
- Physical stamina and the ability to lift and move heavy objects.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record (if required to operate vehicles).
- Flexibility to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as dictated by event schedules.
